Just to reclarify here: Script School's target audience is **adult webmasters**

Script School is -- and has always been -- intended to primarily teach adult webmasters the technical side of the business :)

This doesn't mean that folks who are not adult webmasters are not welcome here, no, but it does mean that those who aren't should only stay and interact here under some this understanding.

If you are not an adult webmaster, then you may find some of what is here not of use and/or inappropriate for you. The actual coding and course material is often slanted towards adult webmasters but it is quite often applicable in mainstream ventures as well.

I've always maintained that code is code and it doesn't really matter what the content is but it has become increasingly apparent over the years to me that there is still a moral group out there that refuses to get the message if the target audience has anything to do with the sex industry.

The overall Script School site -- to use movie ratings -- would probably be rated PG13 to R.

If you are under the age of 18, and over the age of 13 then you *MUST* have your parent's permission to be here, period. Please show your parents the site and my post here specifically and let them decide if this site is appropriate for you.

Also, there are some places that people under 18 are absolutely not welcome at all (the weekly radio show for example). That show has language, situations and subject matter that are often inappropriate for people under the age of 18, sorry.

None of anything at Script School is worse than anything you'd not experience on late night cable and in fact probably much tamer in most cases. Just look around and you'll see that there are several pages that don't even have advertising -- adult or otherwise -- on them. We do not employ any spyware or adware techniques, no popups or popunders, we don't sell email addresses. We don't do any of the sleazy things that so many free sites that have the caliber of content of this site do to make money.

But yes, we *do* have adult webmaster advertisers.

The extent of the adult involvement is the paid banner and audio advertising which supports the original Script School courses and content so that they can be offered for FREE to Script School students.

If this premise offends anybody, I fervently encourage you to cancel your student enrollment and exit the site now. We don't want to see students go, but this is an informational site for webmasters and our slogan is: learn more so you can earn more -- and if we weren't an example of a site that operates with profit as a motivator, we wouldn't be practicing what we so often preach.

We are certainly not trying to force adult-oriented webmaster related content down anybody's throat here. If you can't handle, it isn't approriate, and/or do not want to see adult webmaster advertising, that's your perogative, but guess what, I get to pay the bandwith bill every month and it is also my perogative to make sure that this site remains profitable. Make sense?

So do you want to stay here? Is this arrangement cool with you? I hope so! Cool, then read on :)

Here's the deal: I only ask that you respect the target market that supports this website and not bitch and moan about there being adult advertising here. Don't send me emails complaining about it and don't post to this forum moaning about it.

It's been 4+ years and by now it should be obvious why things are the way they are and now that I've explained this in painstaking detail, I hope it is even more clear that there is no need to bash on the people who help finance this site. It's spitting in the face of the people who are helping to provide this site.

This hasn't changed in 4+ years and probably won't be changing any time soon, despite the occasional moral complaint from students here and there and frankly I've grown weary of reading these complaints over the years.

Furthermore, this forum isn't by committee and I'll likely be removing any of these complaints from the forum heretofore, so for anybody who wants to get their licks in on this topic then this might be the one and only thread where it will be tolerated and allowed.

Whew, enough of the negativity!

Now, on a much more positive note, we *are* working on a mainstream version of this website and at that site there will be absolutely no adult advertising or sponsorships. This will provide a place that is rated G to PG for younger audiences. We hope to launch this website this summer, but it takes time, resources and energy to put these things together and we will *not* prematurely launch this site.

The deal with that website is that not 100% of it will be free as all of Script School is as of this writing. Why? Well, for one, we have zero signed up sponsors so I'm paying for this venture completely out of my pocket (as of this writing anyway). I'm therefore going to ask for those who want to use the site to help me offset the costs. This might hurt some of its initial growth, but it will give folks who want to learn this material a non-adult environment to learn it in.

Change is on the way, as change is inevitable in any venture, but one thing I would NOT like to change with this website -- Script School -- is to continue to offer at least some free course material to students. Thanks to our loyal adult sponsors we can continue to do this on at least some level. There will be some other changes coming to Script School, especially the radio show, so put the show on your Friday afternoon (PST) listening schedule to find out what's going to happen.

In order to do any of this, it is a give and take relationship on the web and not everything is and/or can be FREE, as much as we might all like things to be.

I welcome any feedback on this issue, but please bear in mind that we've worked hard to offer up useful webmaster-oriented instructional content here the last 4+ years and that while it might not seem so to some people, this *is* still a business site and it has been and continues to be operated accordingly.

Thank you in advance for visiting Script School and your understanding in this matter and if you have donated to the site and/or purchased items from the Script School Store, it is very, very much appreciated!

I hope we are here doing what we do for another 4+ years at least! Next Friday, the 30th of July will be our 200th Script School Radio Show broadcast. How is that for history?!

Happy coding to you!
